My Sequential Imagery
I had a lot of fun doing this final project for class. It took me a while to finally come up with something that really bothers not only me but I'm sure many others in this world. Smoking is something that harms your body in many ways. One reason I did this is because two of close friends smoke and I am hoping that they will realize that one day they will stop before it will kill them. People think that it's "cool" and fun but it really is just harmful.
Some complications from smoking may include:
-- major cause of stroke
-- high blood pressure
-- suppresses immune function
-- dulls a persons sense of smell and taste
-- reduces stamina
-- leads to depression & fatigue
-- can cause fatal heart attacks
-- can cause gum disease
-- can cause cancer
-- and lets not forget, it can be addictive
This leads as to why I decided to make an image that hopefully people can realize before it's too late. If you know something is going to kill you, shouldn't you stay away?? A couple of puffs is all it really takes before a persons system becomes used to the intake. Before they know it, one cigarette a day will turn into two... and so on. Don't hold off what you can do today until tomorrow. Life is worth living... not dying.

Working on this project was definitely fun. I kept on playing around with the Hue/Saturation as well as the color balance, layer styles, the exposure, and everything else under the adjustments tab until i was finally satisfied with what i came up with. I also changed the font for both the English and Arabic of most of the writing and even added color, shadows, and an inner as well as an outer glow to some. This was a really nice project indeed and has allowed me to explore more than what i knew before about adjustments and how to manipulate color in a way I want.

This is the original cover of the book that I chose to redesign.
Redesigned Cover made by me:

I had a lot of fun doing this project. I learned many new things and even applied them to this as well as my other project. One of the things that got me stuck was the way I had to write the Arabic writing in the text without having to mess up the letters or rearrange them so they can make complete sense. After a lot of reading and some research, I came across a website where you can specifically write the Arabic in so it can be transferred into Photoshop without having the words in a mixed up order. I also learned how to fill in the background color of the image by using the rectangular marquee tool and just picking the space I want and filling it in with the color I want.
The reason I choose this book is because we actually had a book club in my community and this was one of the books we read as a group. We had discussions about it and it was one of the first successful book for the majority of the youth to read. It made an impact on some of their lives and helped them understand things more clearly. I myself am Muslim and this book caught my attention the first time i saw it. This book is about The Ideal Muslim in today's society and how she handles everything with grace and dignity without losing who she is as an individual. It helps her realize that everything in life happens for a reason no matter what and how she can face every obstacle head on. It was a very interesting book that I can say I relate to a lot!
We CAN prevent it...
When making this image, I thought for a long time what i can try to portray so that the message is loud and clear. Usually we tend to ignore how much our actions hurt those around us. If we only choose to pay attention to what is going on in our lives and the lives of those we love, we might be able to prevent a tragic event before it takes place. Before the tears and fears spread further, we must try to stop whatever violence may take place... before it spreads any further. Don't just stand there and witness something happening that is wrong... we should definitely do something about it.

I just finished creating my photo-montage. I actually was very excited to do it and once i did, i became hooked! :) I couldn't put my PC down at all. My mother started thinking i was going to be sucked into the screen and be in the picture myself! lol. Hopefully I did this right. It was a very important message that I hope everyone can understand. Other than that, I'm just trying to catch up on everything else in life. We seem to forget what is really important sometimes because we don't pay close attention. And when we finally do, it seems a little too late at times. Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!
